Friday, September 28th, 1956: Caligiuri Rumored to be Unhappy in Philadelphia
Allegedly, Fred Caligiuri has asked to be traded from Philadelphia. It is rumored that he is unhappy with fans and the team management and that maybe the pressure and demands of playing here are too great.
Friday, September 7th, 1956: A NL Best Pitcher Chosen
The A NL announced the winner of the Outstanding Pitcher Award for 1956.
It went to Karl Spooner of Philadelphia.

He made 7 starts and rang up 62.1 innings, 54 strikeouts, 1.30 ERA and held others teams to a .191 batting average.

The SBWA will honor all of the award winners this weekend at its annual meeting.
Sunday, September 2nd, 1956: Feller Sharp, Whitewashes Giants
"Sometimes I was smart . . . and sometimes just a little lucky." That's how Bob Feller of the Philadelphia Phillies described his shutout victory over the New York (N) Giants. Feller blanked them 6-0 on 4 hits while striking out 7 and walking 0.

In 1956 thus far, Feller has tossed 248.1 innings in 32 starts, fanned 99 batters, walked 41 and put up a 2.90 ERA with 5 wins and 18 losses.
