Monday, August 5th, 1957: Sima Voted AL Player of the Week
The AAA AL has presented this week's Player of the Week Award to Buffalo starting pitcher Al Sima. He topped the league with 2 wins over the last week and nabbed the best player award.

For the week the Bisons hurler was 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. He allowed 6 hits and fanned 7 in 18 innings.

In 1957 Sima has compiled a 7-7 mark with a 3.42 ERA.
Sunday, August 4th, 1957: Ridin' High, Peete Hits for the Cycle
It was a special day for Charlie Peete. He hit for the cycle, belting out every kind of hit there is in a baseball game -- single, double, triple, home run. The Norfolk center fielder accomplished the rare feat during his team's 5-4 victory over the Buffalo Bisons.

He told the SION reporters at the postgame press conference, "I never even thought about hitting a cycle and whatta you know, I did it. The cycle really doesn't matter to me, it is the 4 hits and the win that are important. But I guess it will be nice to see my name listed in the record book."

Peete went 4-5 in the game.

C. Peete singled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off V. Lombardi in the 8th and tripled in the 10th.

Looking at his stats this year, Peete has compiled a .218 batting average, while hitting 8 home runs and driving in 36 runs. He has played in 106 games and scored 38 runs.
Saturday, August 3rd, 1957: Sima Struts Stuff in Norfolk Win
Al Sima was dynamite today and just blew Norfolk away in the 20-0 victory. The Buffalo Bisons starter had everything working as he hurled a 3-hit shutout over the Tides, recording 4 strikeouts and 3 walks.

"He was pure nasty out there today. I don't think any team in the would've had a chance against what he was bringing," said the Norfolk skipper during his postgame press conference.

Currently Sima has a 7-7 won-lost record in 14 starts with a 3.42 ERA. He also has 55 strikeouts in 113 innings.
