| Breaking News | | Monday, August 19th, 1957: Sacramento's Lund AL Star of the Week It was some kind of week for Don Lund of the Sacramento River Cats. First he hits the heck out of the ball, ripping it at a .417 clip and the next thing you know, he is voted the Player of the Week in the AAA AL. Last week Lund went 10-24, chalked up 2 home runs and 4 RBIs and scored 6 runs. Not a bad week's work at all!
To date, Lund has collected 100 hits for a .236 average. He has posted 10 home runs, scored 54 runs and driven in 42 runs. | | Tuesday, August 13th, 1957: River Cats Shut Out Tides Sacramento's Art Schallock brought his "A game" to the park, shutting down and shutting out the Norfolk Tides 10-0. He racked up 1 strikeout, surrendered 2 hits and issued 8 walks on his way to the victory.

"No offense meant to Sacramento, but I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Walnuts Ballpark!"
The Rochester shortstop had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 10-1 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Andre worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Rodgers said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
A. Rodgers tripled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th.
This season Rodgers is batting .337 with 11 home runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 63-67, .485 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 17.0 GB | | Record at home | 31-34, .477 PCT | | Record on the road | 32-33, .492 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 9-5, .643 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 17-19, .472 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 24-19, .558 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 39-48, .448 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 6-4, .600 PCT | | Record in April | 12-13, .480 PCT | | Record in May | 15-14, .517 PCT | | Record in June | 14-14, .500 PCT | | Record in July | 10-16, .385 PCT | | Record in August | 12-10, .545 PCT |
