Thursday, August 1st, 1957: McMahon Takes NL #1 Pitcher Trophy
In July, the premier pitcher in the AAA NL was Don McMahon, thanks to some fine numbers coming out of the bullpen.

Richmond's star reliever held the opposition to a .140 average and put up 3 saves and 28 strikeouts in 37.2 innings with a 5-1 mark and a 0.96 ERA.

His record so far this season is 11-and-5 with 7 saves and a 2.13 ERA. McMahon has given up 90 hits in 131 innings with 114 strikeouts.
Sunday, July 21st, 1957: Romonosky Spins Shutout Against Richmond
John Romonosky of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs was on top of his game today. He tantalized the Richmond Braves with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest and came away with a 2-0 shutout.

In the postgame comments, the Richmond skipper said, "He had the changeup working. You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Lehigh Valley hurler had 2 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 4 hits in his complete game effort.

Romonosky told reporters after the game, "To be successful in this league, you have to keep the ball down. If you don't, they'll make you pay."

This season Romonosky has compiled a 7-11 mark, 3.68 ERA and made 20 starts.
Saturday, July 13th, 1957: Collum Whips Fresno
"It was just one of those games, when everything went right. I threw a lot of strikes," Jackie Collum said. "And the pitches they did get to hit, they didn't do anything with them."

The Richmond Braves pitcher really got it done in his 6-0 shutout victory over the Fresno Grizzlies, shutting them down on 1 hit. Collum issued 3 walks and had 2 strikeouts.

Collum has made 16 starts this season, posting 7 wins and 8 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .259 against him and he has 30 strikeouts in 136.1 innings with a 3.43 ERA.
