Well, good pitching also beats bad batting.
In his postgame interview the Pittsburgh manager said, "Bob Lemon made us look real bad today. He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Lemon had 10 strikeouts, no walks and allowed only 5 hits as the Cincinnati Reds whitewashed the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-0.
Thus far this season, Lemon has worked 227.2 innings with 136 strikeouts en route to a 11-13 record and a 4.23 ERA. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 81-73, .526 PCT | | Position in Division | 3rd, 10.0 GB | | Record at home | 42-35, .545 PCT | | Record on the road | 39-38, .506 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 11-5, .688 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 29-16, .644 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 20-13, .606 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 61-60, .504 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 8-2, .800 PCT | | Record in April | 14-13, .519 PCT | | Record in May | 17-12, .586 PCT | | Record in June | 11-15, .423 PCT | | Record in July | 16-12, .571 PCT | | Record in August | 13-16, .448 PCT | | Record in September | 10-5, .667 PCT |
