"Johnny is good at getting out of jams," his manager told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
This year Klippstein has a 3-3 record with a 4.50 ERA. | | Thursday, April 4th, 1957: Midland Blanks Portland Today at Bald Eagles Ballpark Moe Drabowsky baffled Portland batters on 1 hit en route to a 2-0 shutout.
"He was able to keep hitters off balance and got the ball down," said the RockHounds skipper about his starter's performance.
Drabowsky had 4 strikeouts and 3 walks in the game.
| | Sunday, August 19th, 1956: 5 Hits for Rock Cats Snyder It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Jerry Snyder. It was very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. Snyder went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Portland pitching.
When the dust settled on the diamond at Ballpark of New Richmond, he had a career 5-6 day and something he will long remember. And the New Britain Rock Cats had a 12-3 victory over the Sea Dogs.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he laughed in the SION postgame interview.
J. Snyder doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off P. Hinrichs in the 9th.
Snyder is hitting .302 so far this season with 58 RBIs and 78 runs scored. He has 141 hits including 8 home runs, 57 walks and .381 OBP. | | | Injuries | | Player | Injury | Out for... | Disabled List Status | | LF Gino Cimoli | dislocated shoulder | 7 weeks | Not on DL | | Pitching Staff | | Role | Throws | Pitcher | W | L | SV | ERA | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 56-64, .467 PCT | | Position in Division | 6th, 23.0 GB | | Record at home | 30-30, .500 PCT | | Record on the road | 26-34, .433 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 7-10, .412 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 19-31, .380 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 20-16, .556 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 36-48, .429 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 7-3, .700 PCT | | Record in April | 9-15, .375 PCT | | Record in May | 12-15, .444 PCT | | Record in June | 10-16, .385 PCT | | Record in July | 16-10, .615 PCT | | Record in August | 9-8, .529 PCT |
