| Breaking News |  | Friday, September 6th, 1957: AL Announces Top Batter Award What a year for Bob Hazle! He finished the year hitting .388 and took home the 1957 AA AL Outstanding Hitter Award.
His season totals included a .499 on-base percentage, 131 hits, 17 doubles, 1 triple, 14 home runs, 52 RBIs and 67 runs scored.
The annual SBWA awards banquet is this weekend. All of the major award winners will be there to be honored for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | Saturday, August 17th, 1957: Aeros Whitewash SeaWolves, Witt Winner George Witt was in command in his outing against the Erie SeaWolves. He hurled the Akron Aeros to a 12-0 shutout victory, yielded 5 hits and chalked up 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"A complete game shutout. That's fun territory for me," he told reporters in the postgame interview. "I had good balance and mechanics and was able to keep the ball down. When I do that, good things happen."
Checking out his stats for the season, Witt has notched 14 wins and 6 losses in 23 starts, 2.22 ERA and struck out 45 batters in 174 innings. |  | Monday, August 5th, 1957: Baumgartner of Erie Crowned Best Player John Baumgartner of the Erie SeaWolves culminated a sensational week of play by being named the AA AL Player of the Week.
