| Breaking News | | Sunday, August 19th, 1956: Higdon Bashes 5 Base Hits It was a sensational day at the plate for Bill Higdon as he led the charge to a 10-0 win over the Senators.
The New York (A) right fielder was pure misery for the Washington pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
The manager for the Senators told SION reporters after the game, "Higdon put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
B. Higdon singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off T. Poholsky in the 8th.
This season Higdon has delivered 47 hits in 163 at-bats for a .288 average with 1 home run. He is getting on base at a .362 clip and his totals also include 19 RBIs and 13 runs scored. This year Higdon has played in 71 games. | _Yankees.png) | Sunday, August 19th, 1956: New York (A)'s Howell Asking for Trade?
