Monday, August 5th, 1957: Johnson Sticks It to NL Pitchers
When Darrell Johnson stepped into the batter's box, he meant business. His outstanding play this week has netted the Tennessee catcher the well-deserved AA NL Player of the Week Award.

Playing in 6 games he lashed out a .563 average with 9 hits, no home runs, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

This season-to-date Johnson has no home runs and a .249 batting average.
Tuesday, July 2nd, 1957: Tennessee Wins, Blanks Reading
Milt Pappas of the Tennessee Smokies whitewashed the Reading Phillies 3-0 in a complete game win, limiting them to 6 hits while chalking up 4 strikeouts and giving up 1 walk.

"Talking to SION writers after the game, his manager said, "He's got the makeup. He's not afraid to challenge guys. Milt is pretty poised out there. He knows how to pitch and how to use his stuff."

This year Pappas has compiled a 6-8 mark with a 3.00 ERA.
Monday, June 24th, 1957: Stewart on the Attack, Player of the Week
Bill Stewart went on a week-long batting spree against AA NL pitchers and hauled in the Player of the Week trophy.

The Tennessee left fielder battered the opposition for 12 hits in 25 at-bats, 1 home run, 3 RBIs and scored 3 runs. He hit .480 and posted a .500 on-base percentage.

So far this season Stewart is hitting .215 with 4 home runs, 17 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has 35 hits in 163 at-bats and a .301 OBP.
