Monday, July 29th, 1957: Star of the Week Honored in NL
This week's premier performer in the A NL was left fielder Ed Mierkowicz of the Daytona Cubs.

He banged out a .412 average and was voted the Player of the Week. Over the last week Mierkowicz socked 7 hits in 17 at-bats and 1 home run, drove in 5 runs and scored 4 times.

Monday, July 1st, 1957: Dente Wins NL Player of the Week Trophy
A battle-tested Sam Dente declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 35-year-old Daytona third baseman collected the A NL Player of the Week Award.

He wrapped up the week with a .423 average, 11 hits in 26 at-bats, no home runs, 6 RBIs and 5 runs scored.

So far this year Dente has 2 home runs and a .248 batting average.
Sunday, May 12th, 1957: Pavletich Cracks 5 Hits
It's not something you read in the sports pages everyday -- a 5-for-5 day. It may only come around once in a career -- a lot of players never have one -- but Don Pavletich got one today. He scattered hits all over Ballpark of Snowflake to pace Clearwater to a 8-4 victory over Daytona.

The Daytona skipper told reporters in the press room, "Tip your hat to him. He hit some good pitches. According to the scouting report, Pavletich hit several that he is not supposed to hit."

D. Pavletich singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off C. Locke in the 7th.

Batting .275 to date, Pavletich has 2 home runs and 8 RBIs.
