Thursday, August 1st, 1957: NL Batter of the Month Honors to Powers
The top hitter in the A NL in July was Sarasota left fielder John Powers.

He was selected the Batter of the Month after batting .370, hitting 3 home runs, scoring 18 runs and driving in 18.

This year Powers is batting .270 with 9 home runs and 60 RBIs.
Monday, July 22nd, 1957: Big Stick Wins NL Trophy
It was announced today by the A NL that Sarasota left fielder Dick Tettelbach had received the Player of the Week Trophy for his superlative play last week.

During his week-long batting binge he reeled off a .464 batting average, 13 hits and 2 home runs. Tettelbach also racked up 7 RBIs and scored 6 runs.

So far this year Tettelbach has hit .296 with 11 home runs, 42 RBIs and scored 51 runs.
Thursday, July 18th, 1957: Tettelbach On Fire! 5-6 for Sarasota!
Dick Tettelbach put on a hitting clinic today as the Reds dumped the Threshers 14-2 at Peppers Ballpark. The Sarasota left fielder sprayed hits all over the ballpark by lashing Clearwater pitching for 5 hits in 6 at-bats in the game.

He told SION reporters after the game, that he just hit it where they pitched it. "Too often I try to pull the ball too much. Today I just went with the pitch."

D. Tettelbach hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off J. Unknown in the 9th.

Tettelbach on the season is batting .300 with 10 home runs. His totals include 41 RBIs and 50 runs scored. He has played in 64 games.
