| Breaking News |  | Friday, June 21st, 1957: King Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Chick King. It was very special day, one that many players never experience. But he did. King went on a tear and cracked hit after hit off Myrtle Beach pitching.
When the dust settled on the diamond at Cotton Kings Ballpark, he had a career 5-8 day and something he will long remember. And the San Jose Giants had a 4-3 victory over the Pelicans.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but it won't get me a hit tomorrow," he laughed in the SION postgame interview.
C. King singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, flied out in the 9th, flied out in the 11th, hit an RBI single in the 13th, walked in the 15th and doubled in the 17th.
King is hitting .265 this year with 10 home runs, 38 RBIs and 37 runs scored. He has 71 hits in 268 at-bats, 41 walks and a .379 on-base percentage. In his stats this season, King has posted a batting average of .250 with 56 hits in 224 at-bats, 10 home runs and 34 RBIs.
