Wednesday, September 19th, 1956: Fain Inks Extension Deal with Kansas City
Reports began circulating several days ago that Ferris Fain would re-sign with the Athletics, but didn't materialize until today when the club officially confirmed SION's reports.

Details were sketchy, though Kansas City did say Fain would be with the club 2 years beyond his current deal.

To date this year Fain is batting .314 with 7 home runs.
Sunday, September 16th, 1956: AAA AL Names Top Hitter
1956 was a very good year for Kansas City Athletics catcher Matt Batts, this year's AAA AL Outstanding Hitter Award recipient.

Batts had a marvelous season, hitting .339 with a .406 on-base percentage. He totaled 146 hits, 45 doubles, 5 triples, 8 home runs, 68 RBIs and scored 71 runs.

For being named the AL's top batter, he will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend.
Sunday, September 16th, 1956: Sisler Guns Down Athletics
Today at Memorial Stadium Dave Sisler baffled Kansas City batters on 5 hits en route to a 4-0 shutout.

"He was able to keep hitters off balance and got the ball down," said the Orioles skipper about his starter's performance.

Sisler had 4 strikeouts and 4 walks in the game.

This season Sisler has a 1-2 record with a 4.94 ERA in 4 starts.
