Tuesday, November 20th, 1956: SP Jim Bagby Ends Speculation; Signs With Cleveland
As speculation mounted into the morning, rumors over a final agreement between Jim Bagby and Cleveland became a reality, with the star opting for a $9,380,000 deal over 2 years.

Bagby has compiled a lifetime ERA of 3.87 with 207 career victories and 217 defeats. He has 990 career strikeouts in 4038 innings and has held opponents to a .768 batting average.
Friday, November 16th, 1956: Cleveland Inks Wertz to $45,810,000 Deal
Some Indians fans are grumbling about the signing of 31-year-old right fielder Vic Wertz. Some are cautiously optimistic, while most are adamantly skeptical as to whether the deal, estimated at a $11,452,500 annual price tag, is a good one for Cleveland.

In 1336 games Wertz has a career .253 batting average and a .361 on-base percentage. He has hit 150 home runs with 715 RBIs and 646 runs scored.
Monday, September 3rd, 1956: AL's Top Player, Cunningham of Cleveland
It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the American League, but last week Joe Cunningham reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week.

Cunningham rocked opposing pitching for a .444 average (12-27), 4 home runs and 11 RBIs to come away with the award.

This season Cunningham has 23 home runs and a .311 batting average.
