Monday, November 12th, 1956: SP Lambert Coming to Milwaukee
Milwaukee came to terms with veteran starting pitcher Gene Lambert today, locking up the 35-year-old to a $36,100,000, 4-year deal.

His career totals show Lambert has a 195-162 won-lost record with a 3.33 ERA.
Monday, September 17th, 1956: NL Batting Title Belongs to Burgess
Smoky Burgess, the 29-year-old catcher of the Milwaukee Braves, was officially crowned National League batting champion for 1956 today.

He batted .345 with 28 home runs and 78 RBIs while playing in 128 games.
Sunday, September 16th, 1956: Jerry Lumpe Picked NL's Best Hitter
Jerry Lumpe certainly made his presence felt in the AAA NL this year. The gifted third baseman for Milwaukee ripped opposing pitchers for a .343 batting average and ran away with the voting for the Outstanding Hitter Award.

He collected 145 hits, 31 doubles, 3 triples, 19 home runs, 74 RBIs and scored 87 times.

Lumpe will get his trophy at the SBWA awards banquet this weekend.
